Software requirements engineer for online applications to support sustainable supply chains and traceability

Global Risk Assessment Services (GRAS) is an innovative company providing information to ecological and social sustainability. GRAS helps agricultural producers, processors, brand owners, traders, NGOs, scientists and investors to review sustainability risks for individual suppliers, sourcing areas or countries. In addition, GRAS supports certification systems, certification bodies and auditors in objective sustainability analysis and verification of land use change. Our main fields of work are the processing and evaluation of remote sensing data and GIS-based sustainability analyses. Further, GRAS provides tools to trace back agricultural products to farmer level.

GRAS is developing geospatial web applications, that are linked to both SQL and NoSQL databases, with external IT partners. We are looking for a Software requirements engineer to support our international, young and dynamic team in the development of these web applications, and also the mobile apps connected to them.

Main activities:
  • Transfer of business requirements into an IT concept
  • Plan, coordinate, monitor, and implement concrete web application requirements
  • Support in the creation of requirements and testing for feasibility and plausibility
  • Interface between GRAS specialists and IT development partners
  • Maintaining web applications to display sustainability related geo-data
Your qualifications:
  • Degree in business informatics, computer science, software engineering, mathematics or related major
  • Understanding common APIs / interfaces, such as JSON / REST / SOAP
  • Understanding of basic programming languages, e.g. Python, Java, Objective-C, C++
  • Understanding of web development (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, jQuery, etc.)
  • Understanding of database architecture and management (MySQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • Knowledge in geodata processing is an advantage
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English is essential. German is a plus
