GRAS conducted a comprehensive risk analysis in accordance with German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) for the members of the German Coffee Association
The German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG) will continue to have an impact in the future: at the beginning of 2023, the law came into force for companies with more than 3,000 employees; the next stage will now take place from January 2024: companies with more than 1,000 employees will also fall within its scope.
Within its services, Global Risk Assessment Services (GRAS) also offers an risk analysis for companies, which is required by the LkSG to gain a better understanding of violations on human rights along supply chains.
At the end of October 2022, GRAS carried out a risk analysis for the members of the German Coffee Association. Once again, this year, GRAS provided members with an updated version and pointed out the changes compared to last year’s analysis. For the 18 most important coffee-growing countries, human rights and environmental factors were analyzed and evaluated by GRAS in accordance with the German Supply Chain Due Diligence Act (LkSG).
For this, GRAS has developed its own methods that include both quantitative and qualitative analyses and focus specifically on coffee in order to obtain a more comprehensive overview of the actual situation on the ground. This also clearly shows that GRAS provides excellent services to support companies in complying with the LkSG. The risk analysis forms the basis for the company’s internal risk assessment and helps companies to better analyze and prioritise their risks along their supply chain.
We are also very pleased about the joint efforts of the industry and their cooperation to jointly meet the requirements of the LkSG and find solutions.
